Everyone loves a fascinating story! Don’t miss this opportunity to hear a firsthand account of the story behind one of America’s most philanthropic families. Macon resident Beverly Knight Olson, daughter of Knight Foundation co-founder James L. Knight, will share the history of her forebears and their passion for journalism, education and community as she narrates the inspirational story of her own life. She will give glimpses of her early years growing up in Miami Beach in the 1950s as well as an account of the life-changing events that have shaped her search for purpose and meaningfulness in life.
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation supports transformational ideas that promote quality journalism, advance media innovation, engage communities and foster the arts. As a Knight Community, Macon has benefited tremendously from the generosity of the Knight Foundation. The Macon Symphony Orchestra is alligned with the Knight Foundation’s goal to “weave the arts into the fabric of Knight resident communities to engage and inspire the people living in them.”
