, CEO of the Macon Symphony Orchestra, joined the staff in December 2008. Founder of Life Enrichment Skills, Ms. Towers has been training and teaching the principles of organizational development, leadership, and personal effectiveness to leaders in private industry, government, non-profit agencies and education since 1990. Her first book, Seeds of Success: Nurturing the Greatness Within You, will be released by Pelican Publishing in the summer 2009.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia in behavioral sciences, Ms. Towers earned her Master of Liberal Studies in the field of psychology from Mercer University. Prior to founding her own company, she worked as a wellness educator. Recognized by the Kellogg Foundation for her contributions to community wellness, Ms. Towers received a Career Enhancement Grant to study at wellness centers throughout the United States. Additionally, she has presented seminars on a wide variety of organizational and personal growth topics, encouraging audiences to push beyond their self-imposed limitations. Ms. Towers’ enthusiastic support of the performing arts in Macon and middle Georgia, particularly the Macon Symphony Orchestra, coupled with her exemplary success as a businesswoman, brings energy and optimism, for an exciting future, to MSO.
Doris Wood

is the General Manager of the Macon Symphony Orchestra. She has completed courses through the New York Writers Institute, the American Management Association, the National Association of Parliamentarians as well as public speaking and business courses.
Her years of volunteer service include having served as Junior Director and State President of the Georgia Federation of Women’s Clubs where she also served six years as parliamentarian. She served as chairman of Junior Projects, the Arts Department and the Human Rights Committee for the General Federation of the Women’s Clubs, an international organization, and had articles published in the GFWC International Clubwoman Magazine.
Having served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tallulah Falls School from 1985-1989, she was named an honorary trustee in 1994. She is the recipient of the State Junior Outstanding Clubwoman of the Year, the Macon Arts’s Cultural Award and the Career Women’s Network Women of Achievement Award and is listed in Outstanding Women of America and the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals.
Currently, Doris holds membership in the Career Women’s Network, Macon Rotary Club, Macon Service League, and the Morning Music Club. She has served two terms on the Music Panel of the Georgia Council for the Arts. She also serves on the Riverside United Methodist Church Council and the Grand Opera House Board of Governors.
Marian Porter

is the Director of Operations for the Macon Symphony Orchestra. Marian joined the MSO as part-time Librarian and Office Assistant in October 2000, and became a full-time employee in 2006. Some of her office duties include librarian and box office manager, as well as backstage and rehearsal personnel assistant. She enjoys reading, sewing and accompanying for the Rutland High School Advanced Choir. Marian is a former piano instructor with a B. A. degree in organ from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA and is a lifetime member of the Delta Omicron, Professional Music Fraternity for Women. She is married to Perry who is Pastor of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and they have two grown children, Philip and Lauren.
Melissa Klein
Melissa Klein began working as Personnel Manager for the Macon Symphony Orchestra in 1999 after studying clarinet performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She still enjoys playing clarinet and piano as often as possible. Currently, Melissa is pursuing a degree in Business Administration from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Some of her duties with the MSO include overseeing all matters concerning the musicians and to coordinate technical and operational aspects of rehearsals and performances.
Melissa is a member of Sigma Alpha lata, Music Fraternity for Women, and The Junior League of Ogden, (Utah). She enjoys hiking and traveling. Melissa and her husband, Jon, have three children, Alex and Lainey and Lewis.
